How to back up and move your Quitmark data

Quitmark has no account or server copy of your Activity history. To keep a copy you can move to another phone, export a backup file and save it somewhere you can find again. Exporting, importing and deleting data are free.

Save a copy from the app

Open Settings → Your data → Export a backup. Quitmark creates a JSON backup and opens your phone’s share options. Choose a destination you control, then check that the file actually appears there. The app can confirm that it created the file, but it cannot verify where a share sheet saved it.

Treat the exported file as personal data. Anyone with the file may be able to read the Activities, records and notes it contains. Store it accordingly.

Restore on another phone

On the first setup screen, choose “Moved from another device? Restore from a backup.” You can also open Settings → Your data → Import a backup in an existing installation. Pick the JSON file you saved.

If the phone already has Quitmark history, read the confirmation carefully. It describes the backup and the current device data because importing will replace the current history. Export the current device first if you need to keep it. A Quitmark Plus purchase belongs to the store account and is not granted by importing a file; use Restore Purchases when needed.

What phone backups do

On iOS, a device backup may retain app data in your Apple account. On Android, Quitmark disables cloud backup and device transfer for its app data. An exported JSON file stays wherever you chose to save or share it on either platform. Deleting data inside Quitmark does not delete those outside copies.

If a phone is lost without an accessible backup, Quitmark cannot recover its history. For details about the app and the website, read the privacy notice.
